Hello former neighbors!

Former Davis Square denizen currently banished to the hinterlands known as Kansas suffering from SEVERE jones for Redbones' Potato Salad, something which, when I lived a block away, I would walk over and buy in bulk volume with embarrassing regularity. But, after 2 years of withdrawal, it occurred to me that this forum might prove to be my savior.

So, does anyone know the recipe for Redbones' Potato Salad?

I'm thinking there has to be at least someone on here who knows someone who knows someone who works/worked at Redbones that could maybe come up with the info and save me a trip to the methadone clinic to see what they can do for the potato salad shakes.

Any help would be appreciated!

Just in case you haven't tried this route already, Redbones does regularly post recipes for various menu items on their website, and there's a link to request which recipes you'd like to see posted in the future. The link is on the bottom left corner of this page: http://www.redbones.com/news.html

If you're jonesing that badly, I'd suggest calling Redbones and seeing what you'd have to pay for them to overnight you a gallon of the stuff. (For bonus points, calculate how much you'd have to ship in monthly before it outweighs the difference in rent/mortgage between Somerville and Kansas. :) )

I second this idea, I was gonna say the same thing- heck they ship lobsters around the country this stuff is probably easier

I'll ask around in the kitchen on Wednesday. Prep like that mostly happens at the commisary in Union Square, 'cause space is so tight in the restaurant, so I'm not guaranteed to talk to anyone who was actually involved in the process.

i am pretty sure3 the only special ingredient to redbones sides is lots of booze and lots of over spicy meat on the side.

Just call 'em and ask.

I once had a craving for a sub that got made at my hometown's pizza place, anddid just that (http://thespian.livejournal.com/188902.html) :-)

Maybe a different route.

... but when I find something tasty at restaurants, I like to try and make something like it, but better.

I'm guessing it involves mayonaise, milk, half and half, a clove of garlic, butter, and... well.. obviously potatoes.

Oh, there are chopped up boiled egg whites in there as well as sliced onion. I eat the stuff a couple times a month. I'm certain its a calorie bomb, but it's damned good.

Isn't Kansas City, MO supposed to have some of the best Southern BBQ, yet they can't beat our little old Yankified establishment up here? I don't know what part of Kansas your in, but still...

I guess that would actually be Kansas City BBQ, not Southern BBQ:

But still it's a BBQ megacenter.

The only think I ADORE at Redbones is the potato salad - and I normally hate potato salad - so I understand where you're coming from. Give them a call, they prove charitable.
