Hello, this is just a friendly reminder that one way streets only allow traffic to go in a single direction. Specifically, I am writing about Windom St., which borders Carberry's. It is a one way street that allows traffic to exit onto Elm St. This means that DRIVERS ON ELM STREET CANNOT TURN INTO WINDOM STREET IN ORDER TO GET THEIR COFFEE FROM CARBERRY'S. For the second day in a row I have had to swerve out of the way of oncoming traffic going the wrong way on this street. It's a fucking one way street people. If you're on Elm St. and want to go to Carberry's, either find parking on Elm St., or if you're desperate to park on Windom St., go up Elm to Russell, turn right onto Russell, and right again onto Summer St., and then turn right onto Windom St., where you will be obeying the one way sign.
A waning: I'll be taking down the license plate number of the next asshat who decides to go the wrong way up Windom St. You have been warned.

The fabulous [livejournal.com profile] chhotii and I are hosting a letter-writing party, a grass-roots effort to try to increase voter participation, using addresses and materials provided by Mainstreet Moms Oppose Bush (http://themmob.com/).

When: Thursday, September 23, from 7:30 pm until... ?

Where: 161 Willow Avenue #2, Somerville

What: Write letters to potential voters in 2 swing states (Nevada and Oregon), begging them to register before the deadline passes.

Why: Every vote matters... in THOSE states.

How: We provide names and addresses, sample letters, stamps, voter-education materials, and a fun social atmosphere; you write letters; we mail them.

We will have some snacks and beverages on hand. Take-out food orders will be put in at some point. Feel free to bring your own munchies, to share or not.

Allergen alert: Two friendly cats in residence. Don't forget the meds.

Registration deadlines in most states are rushing up. Join us in our efforts to keep Nevada and Oregon from turning into 2004's version of Florida!

...to live in Davis Square?

The square, while my favorite place in the entire Boston area and one of my fave neighborhoods eva, is getting younger and younger. I like that there is stuff to do though, but I also like the peace and quiet...I am like Jonathan Richman; I want the city but I want the country too.

Can you all help me remember why I love my one - bedroom apartment outside Davis at a time when most people my age have kids and a picket fence and do horrible things like golf?

Or should I just shut up and stop acting like an asshat cuz I know its cool to be 35?

I am simply seeking some validation, as tomorrow is my birthday.

still, thoughts on why we love the square?
