Medforonians and Somervillians: many people don't bother to vote for unopposed canidates. Remember that Carl Sciortino is not running unopposed. If you support Sciortino over Ciampa, mark that box. Ciampa's sticker campaign is well funded, and write-in elections sometimes succeed. One did just this September, in the primaries.

Silly Ciampa:
Nov. 2nd, 2004 11:00 amI was just getting ready to go to vote this morning when my boyfriend IM'd me from work and said that Ciampa had been just behind him in our line to vote at the PHC school down the street. (Because he lives two streets from us)
I said "Well, did you spit on him?"
He said he didn't, apparently the reporters were in the way.
Anyone else see this phenomenon this morning?

request for help
Nov. 2nd, 2004 04:23 pmThis is my first time posting on this site. I stumbled across it in Google and think it's a great site. I'm in Davis Sq. fairly often, so this site will be a great resource.
Anyways, my real reason for posting today is a request for help. I'm a student at BU School of Social Work, and I have a class assignment to study a community and compile information about it. I chose to concentrate on Davis Sq. for this paper.
In order to complete the assignment, I have to interview two people who have knowledge about Davis Sq. and incorporate their perspectives into my paper. I'm looking for people in Davis Sq. who are long-term residents, school teachers, store owners, local newspaper reports, grassroots community leaders, human services and community workers, etc.
If you have any time, I would really appreciate help in completing this assignment. The interview will likely last about 30 minutes, but no longer than an hour. I'm planning on being in the Davis Sq. area Thursday evening, Friday during the day, and Saturday morning. If anyone has some free time and would like to help me out, I'd really appreciate it.
If you're interested, post a comment to this message or email me at ctryan@bu.edu with contact information and your availability. Thanks again!
