Two cool Union Square outdoor events this weekend

This Friday at 8 pm in Union Square Plaza, ArtsUnion presents Sounds of Silents, a festival of original short silent films by local filmmakers and visual artists, each scored by a local musician or musical group. The KNOWmovement Orchestra will perform a live soundtrack to the films. Films will be photographic, experimental, narrative or even documentary in nature.

Also, this Friday evening and all day Saturday, the Community Growing Center on Vinal Avenue is holding the Viva La Vinal Festival, an outdoor event of music, comedy, and food.

Lee Kilpatrick's photo show, Three Months Apart, will have an opening reception at Willoughby & Baltic Fine Arts tomorrow evening.

I recently acquired the master franchise rights to a relatively new but fast growing salon concept called Knockouts®.

Street cleaning

Did anyone else mess up and get ticketed today like I did? I'm not sure if the street cleaning schedule is the same throughout Davis or not, but on Liberty, it's every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month for one side and 2nd and 4th Wednesday for the other. Yesterday was the third Tuesday, so I was cautious to park on the proper side. I'm thinking there's nothing to worry about until next week. However, that's wrong. The month started on a Wednesday and ends on a Tuesday, so technically today was the fourth Wednesday. Both myself and my S.O. who was staying over got ticketed. I'm paying for both, so I'm out $100 and feel like bitching about it. :P I guess this means there's no street cleaning at all next week?
