I've now finished a first pass of tagging all the old posts in this community. I can't say I've necessarily been consistent, or that everything is now exactly where it should be, but it's all a lot better than it was a month ago.

Tagging details, for those who are interested )

I'm going to take a break from this activity for a few days, and give the other moderators, tag-team folks, and the davis_square members at large a chance to take over this conversation. I look forward to what everyone else has to say.

Because meta-discussions tend to bore a lot of folks, I suggest that people who are intensely interested in this subject join us in the [livejournal.com profile] davis_meta community.

Hi everyone--

This isn't a post about looking for an apartment, I just wanted some suggestions on neighborhoods.
I'm a Florida native who is planning a move to Boston at the beginning of November. I came to Boston last October, and I fell in love with Davis square- and immediately decided that's the area I wanted to live in. However, in my obsessive searching for apartments, I've noticed that there are far more availabilities in the Allston/Brighton area. I did pass through there on my visit, but I only got off the T in a couple of spots- so I didn't really explore.
So, the real question I am posing- to you that live in and love Davis square; is there any other area that is comparable to Davis-- but still near a T stop?
On a completely other note, can anyone tell me if Cambridge School of Culinary Arts is as cool as it seems to be online?
Thank you so much!

I just got this in my e-mail:

DARBI To Host “Mega Block Party” for Davis Square Residents

Davis Square residents and all who love Davis Square are invited to the first ever DARBI Mega Block Party which be held on Monday, September 10 from 6-8 pm at Redbones, 55 Chester Street, Somerville, MA.

The Davis Area Resident/Business Initiative (DARBI) is a newly formed community organization whose goal is to maintain and enhance the quality of life in the Davis Square area through creative and strategic collaboration between residents and the business community.

The Redbones event will be an opportunity for Davis Square residents, especially the large and growing number of professionals who work from home, to meet their neighbors, network, and enjoy great food. Davis Square businesses are also welcome to attend.

A buffet dinner, designed to satisfy both carnivores and vegetarians, is $5 for DARBI members and $10 for non-members. A DARBI resident membership is $20 for the year and includes a free t-shirt (a $15 value). Membership is open to anyone who lives in or loves Davis Square. Non-members will have an opportunity to join at the event and enjoy a fun evening and a fabulous Redbones meal for $5.

The event will also include a number of door prizes, courtesy of Davis Square businesses, and a cash bar. All proceeds from the event will support the HONK! Festival’s return to Davis Square on October 5th. (www.honkfest.org). HONK! Is a grassroots festival of activist street bands from all over the U.S. and beyond, playing music that celebrates progressive ideals. Redbones, famous for its authentic down home-style Southern food and unique ambience, is located in the heart of Davis Square.

For more information about DARBI contact Thalia Tringo at 617-513-1967 or tctringo@rcn.com.

I always think I see people that I recognize from their icons and whatnot, and it would be fun to harass people in 'real life', too.

Anyone opposed to a Davis Square 'pic' post?

I was at Davis around sunset this Tuesday and took these nifty pics. Feel free to do whatever with them, just give me credit and let me know if you use them anywhere. :)
