I know it's short notice, but there's a multi-family yard sale today at 3 Wallace St. (across from Orleans) from 9-1. Lots of housewares and some furniture. One of the families is leaving the country so hopefully some juicy stuffs. Come early (but not before 9) and often.

I'm giving away most of my stuff in preparation for being nomadic, and this is the last of the stuff, so it's mostly really, really great stuff that I would otherwise keep if I could, such as:

philosophy books
kids books
my favorite furniture
awesome dvds
nice clothes (my roommie's cat was investigating while I was packing/sorting so there's a bit of cat hair)
small toys for all ages
a huge pile of bike stickers
a few electronics/computer things
art
kitchenware
bike stuff
and more

I'll be continually putting stuff outside for the next couple of days for people to peruse, so feel free to come by anytime and see what new stuff is available.

68 Dane Street, on the side of the house.
Dane is near Union Square and runs between Somerville Ave and Washington Street, Dane is three streets after Conway Park on the right if you're coming from Davis Square.

Please keep the driveway free, as it's belongs to the neighbors who live behind me.

Enjoy!

For anyone who expressed their concern about our lost cat and didn't see my update to the original post, just wanted to let you know that Aidan was found this morning over on Chandler Street, one street over, and is now home and doing fine. A neighbor saw him and got him to come into her house and fed him, and I went and got him. He's a bit shaken from his experiences, but seems fine. (He'll be going to the vet this week for a checkup.)

Thanks again to everyone who posted comments and suggestions.

Martha

Come on by 98 Oxford Street for the choice free stuff. Things we were still using, or failed to sell. I've got a printer, some bookshelves, one of those desks I posted about... all free.

This post announces a bookswap in Davis Square from 1 to 4 PM, on Sunday July 13th. (That's two weeks from today, so start sorting your collection!)

It is in celebration of my birthday, but you do not need to know me or my partner [livejournal.com profile] mrpet to attend. Also, if you do know us, we do not have to get along - all are welcome. There is no cost to enter, we only ask that you bring at least one bag of books. You can take away as many as you like and there are always plenty of delicious books to go around! Leftovers will be donated to charity.

has there been any post about game night, which should be tonight (as the last Sunday in the month) at Bolocco?

Will anyone else be there?

Just an fyi to be alert out there- someone tried to steal my purse in broad daylight on Rogers Ave. this afternoon. A little tug of war and some shouting scared him off, so no harm done, but I thought I'd let y'all know that a wanna-be thief may be around. I did call the cops, but since my glasses got knocked off in the altercation I didn't get a good look him.

I am still looking for someone to live with me in a large 2 bedroom apartment right by Tufts. Rent is $725+ utils, there's one cat in residence, additional pets are welcome. I have pictures of the apartment I can send to anyone who is interested. I am a 30 year old professional and happy to live with either another professional or a student. Some tidbits about the place:
- hardwood floors
- large eat in kitchen as well as sizable dining room and living room
- tons of basement storage space
- washer and dryer (free to use, not coin op)
- quiet dead end street
- on 96 and 101 bus lines and 1.25 miles from Davis

Free to a good home: Queen Size Box spring. Wouldn't fit up the stairs at my friend's apartment; otherwise in perfect condition. Outside 17 Woodbridge St. (near corner w/ Mass Ave - opposite Frank's Steakhouse.

Please note that this did not happen to me, but I just found this posting on craigslist in the community section and figured the wider the information could be relayed, the better. Stay safe!

"I posted yesterday and today about an incident that occurred early yesterday morning in Powderhouse Square (on Broadway--opposite side of the street from the funeral home)at about 4:15 AM.

I was out jogging because I could not sleep (yes I have learned my lesson)and a man attacked me. As I was screaming he said, "STOP SCREAMING OR I'LL KILL YOU!!! STOP SCREAMING OR I'LL KILL YOU!!" I stopped screaming and was able to get away unharmed. I ran away to Davis Sq, hopped in a cab, headed to the police department, and filed a report.

Here is the description:
-Caucasian male, late 20's/early 30's
-dark brown hair, down to below his ears (think of the criminal in "No Country for Old Men)
-fat (280-300 lbs)
-approx 6'
-eyes are skewed (meaning the opposite of cross-eyes: like a fish)
-clothing: white wife-beater t-shirt, jeans, black tennis shoes
-possibly on drugs: he had a crazed expression on his face

If you have seen think you have seen person, PLEASE notify the Somerville police dept at 617-625-1600. I will be calling them tomorrow to see if they have a detective on the case.

I was fortunate enough to get away from this guy, but he's still out on the streets...."
