Just wanted to post an update to this: http://community.livejournal.com/davis_square/1323388.html

Metamorphisis is definitely closed and has now re-opened in Dedham. After contacting the owner she replied and explained what happened. She had a bad breakup with a boyfriend...the father manages the building and refused to allow her until at least the end of the month to notify clients with pending appointments, clients in general to explain the move and to remove her stuff. He only gave her 3 days to be out. I feel terrible as this woman is extremely nice and was always good to us when there. She offered us a complete refund of what we have paid and only asked us to wait until the end of July as she has had no income since May. I just wanted to post the story so people didn't think she was some shady business woman who disappeared.

Its been a couple weeks before there was an "on list" update about the sale.

1) The permit has been obtained and I have a copy of it. You can sort of read it via this crappy cell phone image. )

2) The Somerville Homeless Coalition maintains an extensive email mailing list and will be sending out info related to the event probably a week or two ahead of time. The Executive Director of the SHC will be there at the event to answer any questions people have and to have info/ flyers for those wishing to learn more about their work.

3) Besides donation of items to sale, we are going to need several other things such as 1) Fold up tables or other ways to display the items 2) Drop off locations to hold items if a person can't physically be at the event 3) People to make flyers/ signs for the event and to post them in the neighborhood a few days before the event. 4) Possible help with transportation, ie., getting items from drop off locations to the Park and after the event getting the items that didn't sell off to Goodwill. 5) People to bring food, beverages (non-alcohol of course), and music to the event.

If you can help with any of the things mentioned in #3 above, please comment here. Also, if you would like to help additionally with the planning and coordination of the event, please join [livejournal.com profile] davis_sale.

I hope this ends up being a success and that it both raises money for the SHC and is a fun/ social occasion.

There is still a fair bit of stuff that I'm putting out on the street/driveway next to my house today, if you want to wander by and take a look at all the free stuff. It's at 68 Dane Street. Near Union Square, off of Somerville Ave.

Also, I've got a whole box of old school Star Wars comics, and a bunch of others comics and geeky kids magazines and such from the 70's and early 80's. I'm not putting these outside, in case it rains. So let me know via email if you want them asap. I'll be around packing until this evening if you want to pick them up
today.

I feel like I've seen this discussed before but the tag system did not help me find anything on it. (why oh why isn't there a search box!) Can anyone recommend a storage rental provider within a few miles of Davis?  I need in the ballpark of 10x10x10 feet of storage space for a few months, the cheaper the better. I know of the U-haul facility and the one on Rt. 38, but have no word of mouth to go on. Thanks!

A friend of mine is looking for a roofer (preferably affiliated with a mason for doing chimney work).

They are not part of this community, but I will forward along to her the link to this post so she can see any recommendations.

Anyway have a local roofer to recommend?

Thanks.

BTW, looking at the tags, I saw this post but I'll certainly take any more recommendations especially for those who do mason work as well.
