MISSING DOG!!!
Reddish Brown, about 36 lbs, medium size dog, with big floppy ears.

She answers to Cleo.

She ran away from Fletcher Field on the night of 7/23/08 during the thunder storm.
LAST SEEN SATURDAY 7/26 AROUND POWDERHOUSE CIRCLE.
VERY SCARED AND RUNNING FAST.

She probably won't respond to a stranger especially if she's recently been startled. She is very VERY timid with humans. She's not aggressive at all, just very scared. If you see her please don't try to catch her or chase her. Follow her or see where she goes if you can. If she doesn't run away and is staying in one place, you could try to put some food out for her, near her. Move slowly and talk sweetly. Then call me right away so I can come get her!!!!
If you see her PLEASE CALL REBECCA at 978-697-6973.

THANK yoU!!!!

Well, not quite :-) But in my kitchen. It appears that we have a bit of an ant infestation in our house. It's those little "honey" ants. K fought them valiantly with traps and all manner of ant destroying implements. So while we no longer have columns of ants in our bathroom and kitchen, they are still around, and nothing we do seems to work. My suspicion is that the source is outside the apartment, and destroying them here (even with the approach of having them carry various nasty poisons back to their nest) will not do the trick. Has anyone in the area had similar experiences? My feeling is that if the source is outside of my apartment, the landlord should be dealing with that - has anyone had to deal with this kind of situation?

Ah, yes, towing. I'm hoping someone here knows more about The System than I do. Being new to MA (as I point out in, like, every post I make), brings out all of my Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer instincts.

I'm hoping someone here has inside knowledge or can be of help in my situation. I'm completely exhausted at this point because my car was totaled a month and a half ago in an accident not my fault (rear-ended at a stoplight) and I'm still going through a nightmare from that. (I've stored up good rants involving Enterprise, Hertz, certain cab drivers, insurance companies, a shady dude who sold me a car that died in 2 days, etc. When I say nightmare, I do mean grand mal, balls-out nightmare.)

The latest version of the nightmare is this: my totaled car was legally parked on the street by my apartment. It had to be there because insurance was inspecting it and assessing the damage and such. I don't know why it took the damage inspector over a month to come and inspect it, but it did. Finally, that was done, and I needed the title so I could salvage the car and get the insurance check for the car's worth, so I sent for that from Virginia.

Imagine my surprise to come home yesterday and find out that my totaled car wasn't there. "Surely I am simply delusional," I thought. But no. It was gone. I called the police and they said they'd towed it, but they didn't really give me a reason why. The lady wasn't forthcoming with any information, in fact, but I did glean I have to get a release from the police and then go to Pat's and give them $120, plus $25 for every day it's been there. Fun!

Ultimately, all I need to do is get all my stuff cleaned out of the car (there's a lot) and have the title so I can salvage it.

I'm exhausted and thoroughly dehumanized by now, plus I have job interviews this week and need to keep my composure somewhat, so any help would be wonderful.

I have a few questions:

Don't laugh too hard at my asking this, but is there any way to appeal or somehow mitigate this? Do I have any rights here? Is there anybody I can talk to that doesn't get off on turning me into a sniffling, pathetic mess?

How long do I have to claim my car? I'm trying to figure out if I can wait until I have the title so the salvage dude can just pick it up from the tow yard once I pay, rather than me having to tow it back to my apartment.

I really love brunch at Johnny D's. But I like it best when the musicians take a break and my friends and I can hear one-another without raising our voices.* Does anyone know of a place where the brunch is anything like as good as at Johnny D's, but without live music, recorded music, TV, etc?

* Please, no flames about what a Philistine I am for not appreciating jazz. I love listening to jazz. I also love listening to my friends. I find the two incompatible; with brunch, I prefer the latter.

[Edit, added after roughly the 35th comment: Apparently I should have added Close to Davis Square. For values of close equal to "walking distance when you're bleary-eyed and hungry."]

Hi I'm looking to buy or get a free HP Printer Power Cable/adapter.  My model is C5180, however I'm pretty sure most HP power cables that have the three little circles at the end will work with my printer.  Anyone have a broker printer they don't need that I can harvest?  I've tried to deal with with HP customer service to no avail, and their printer cables are proprietary.

If you live in the Spring Hill section of Somerville, be on the lookout for (a) prowler(s). Somerville PD is outside my place over on School St checking out the alleyway next to a neighbor's house. If you see or hear anything strange, call SPD immediately.

My apartment building lobby has four notes posted, by four different tenants, about packages that have gone missing in the last week. That's four tenants out of 50.

Is this a general problem in the neighborhood between Davis Square and Mass. Ave., or is it specific to my building? I'm wondering if we need to ask management to re-key the outside locks (an annoying and expensive process).
