I swore I would never do this...

My new cat Charm who has graced these pages once before has again gone AWOL.  This time he slipped his collar and so is currently unlabeled.

As I speak he is almost certainly in one of your houses, eating a can of tuna and explaining how terribly I neglect him.  If it's _your_ house, please let him out and he will return to home base like a Roomba.  A new collar awaits with a trickier clicky sticky safety thingie that will hopefully confound the beast.

I am sorry to clog such a large community with these tribulations, but there is only so much tuna in the world and left unchecked he will soon exhaust it.  I suspect this latest excursion may be just a publicity stunt to popularize his LJ at http://community.livejournal.com/charmfriends

Looking to rent an apartment for the end of December

 A good friend of mine will be in the Boston/Cambridge area from December 24th through the 31st, and is looking to rent a small apartment for the duration.  She will be here with her boyfriend - both of them are academics in their late 30s, so no keg parties :-)  So if anyone has something they are willing to rent or knows of a place, do let me know.  Proximity to public transit would be key.

More films this week at Tufts, including the start of the Middle Eastern Film Series on Tuesdays.

Tufts Film Series has "Be Kind, Rewind" and "Lars and the Real Girl" next weekend as well as "Wall*E" tonight.

You can see "Standard Operating Procedure" on Monday night and "Osama" on Tuesday, both at Tufts.

The Somerville Library has "The Secrets of Roan Inish" showing on Tuesday.

Just wanted you guys to be more alert...

A group of guys just broke into one of our cars in our driveway. I was in bed with my 2 dogs and my husband was going around shutting mini-blinds to come to bed when he started yelling and pounding on a window towards out driveway. He bolted outside screaming for me to call the police and the guys ran away when they realized they were caught. The police were extremely helpful and sent cars searching as my husband jumped in his truck chasing the guys. My husband caught a small group of guys all in hoodies which seemed like the guys that had been in our driveway and the cops saw my husbands truck as I had told them what he was driving and pulled over to question them while my husband came home. Basically they couldnt do anything because it was too dark for my husband to ID them and there was nothing taken to be sure. Luckily the other half caught them before anything could really be taken. To be honest I have NO IDEA what they wanted as there was no GPS / Ipod visible, no GPS marks on the windshield, no money or any electronics...the only thing was tonight he had forgotten to alarm the truck. Also tonight there was no parking on our road so we both parked in the driveway and my car was blocking our security sensor light so that didnt go on either.

Anyways just an fyi...lock your cars, alarm them and dont keep valuables out. We live off Broadway a block or two from Teele towards Johnnys.

Fire near Tedeschi's?

I passed by Tedeschi's/Store 24 a couple times tonight -- first around 8:20 or so, and the second time maybe five, ten minutes later -- and there was an alarm going off at the store the first time and a whole mess of fire trucks with blazing lights parked all around the area when I passed by again. Does anyone happen to know what happened?
