Hey all, I'm thinking of doing an afternoon tea for my birthday next week.... I know upstairs on the square and the Taj Hotel do this... Any other places you can think of that do this? or have you been to either one at the Taj or Upstairs? Anyplace in Davis that does something like this?

I'm wondering if I'm missing something in the board of alderman minutes on the city website.  They read just like the agenda, except noting if resolutions were approved or not.  But there is almost no news content there.  Do I have to attend these minutes to know more?   I can't get out of work in time to attend these meetings, but I would read anything they would put out there.  The SN and SJ only have so much content, and the other source is word of mouth and community meetings, but it would be a part time job to attend all of these things in order to really know what's going on a large number of local items.

I remember a while back people used to meetup and play board games at Boloco.

Do these meetups still happen?

UPDATE: NO GAME NIGHT! GAME NIGHT IS NOT RETURNING AS PLANNED. EVEN THOUGH GREEN TOMATO II LISTS THEIR SUNDAY HOURS ON THEIR WEBSITE, THEY ARE NOT OPEN ON SUNDAYS.

Back by popular demand...OR NOT
Davis Square Board Game Night

what:
Bring your board games (or strategy games, or card games, or dice games...)
when:
The first Sunday of every month?
where:
??????????????
who:
Everyone is welcome.
This fun event grew each time it was held. The last time it was held there was some TransAmerica, Settlers of Catan, Letras, Equals, and something I can't recall that involved utilities and bright colors as well as a Blokus game I did not see in action. The month before that saw some Fluxx, Farkel, Illuminati, Catan, and Scrabble. As you can see, any game is welcome and there are always more games that players so don't be worried if you don't come with a game in hand!

Greetings, all:

Job relocation compels my partner and I to have to leave our beloved 1 br, approx 550 sqft apt., located just past Teele Square off Broadway. We're looking for someone who can take our lease over from March thru May (inclusive) and then sign a one-year lease with our nice, responsive landlord starting June 1, 2009.

Details and photo link behind cut )

Thank you for your time and attention. Comment here, message or email thru LJ, or email ifmanis5 at hotmail dot com.

The roomies and I live in Porter Square and subscribe to RCN's 10mbps cable internet service (no TV). Over the last few months, we've been pretty happy with the service and promotional rate we were getting, which was $26.95/month.

Now that the promotional period is over, the rate's switched to $44.95/month for a one-year plan. RCN customer service says that's the best deal we can get right now (despite their site advertising a $43/month rate).

I'm not too happy about this. Admittedly, I don't know what the market rate is for cable internet service in Somerville, but suddenly jacking up my bill by $18/month seems sketchy. What have your experiences been like with RCN internet? Would you recommend switching to another provider?
