Attacks on cyclists in the area

About an hour ago a friend of mine was pelted with eggs and beer cans while riding her bicycle on Boston Ave. While this isn't specifically Davis Square, this sort of thing has happened to me and several of my friends in this area over the past couple of years, typically at night but not exclusively. Usually it's just eggs (but even those can do damage or cause you to wreck) but I've second hand knowledge of significantly worse.

So among other things, this is a warning to cyclists in the area.

But I wonder if people can do things about this.

Redbones Tour de France breakfast tomorrow (Tues 7/21)

Redbones is having its annual Tour de France breakfast party tomorrow morning, starting at 9 am.

For $8, you can enjoy a hearty buffet breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee and more. The restaurant's TV sets will show a live broadcast of Mountain Stage 16: Martigny to Bourg-Saint-Maurice. This is the Tour's first use of the stage in 43 years.

As always, Redbones offers free bicycle valet parking while you eat.

My girlfriend got a $50 ticket because her parking sticker was "taped to the window."

Actually, the sticker was kinda static-stuck to the window. After having a hell of a time removing the old sticker, and because this one was only going to be on her car for a month anyway (we switched zones, so had to buy a permit that would expire in 1 or 2 months, which is a whole separate gripe), she stuck it to a clear plastic film and then static stuck that to her windshield. It had been fine for a few weeks, but I guess has started to come off a bit so it looks like it's taped on.

So she got a ticket, which didn't really surprise me, but she wants to appeal it, because she hasn't been able to find anything on the parking office's website saying the sticker needed to be stuck directly to the windshield and not taped there. Does anyone have a link to relevant city laws?

"Somerville police" donation solicitation

Just got a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Somerville Police announcing their donation pickup drive - you leave the contribution in the mailbox, and they leave you a receipt to prove that it really was them.

If it's bogus, I'm WAY too young to be getting targeted for this kind of fertilizer. If it's not, I'm too broke.
