Come to Tisha B'Av services at the Hav (Havurat Shalom) tonight! 8:30PM; brief services followed by a group reading of Eicha (Lamentations). 113 College Ave, Somerville.
My car is approaching end-of-life, and I'm wondering if there's a car made that actually feels comfortable to drive on the roads around here. I'm getting a -very- harsh ride on the roads in and out of Davis and its a little embarassing when picking somebody up to visit. Trying to avoid that with the next car. ( Read more... )
A lot of this has been covered in the many recent posts about parking, but how strictly and quickly do people think the city will implement citywide permit parking that is supposed to go into effect August 1? How will it be enforced? Mass ticketing is my best guess. Should be good for revenue, at least!
Knowing Somerville traffic and parking, I assume many of us who live on non permit streets will wake up on Saturday morning and walk outside to be greeted by a sea of neon orange tickets blanketing car windshields and a lot of pissed off people. I keep up on Somerville news as best as I can, but I haven't received anything in the mail about the new parking regulations, and I wonder how many people have no idea this is happening.
:: insert standard argument about how while something does need to be done about the overabundance of cars in Somerville, the current plan with respect to citywide permit parking seems shortsighted, especially when there are procedures in place to turn problem streets to permitted ones by majority consensus of the people who actually live on those streets ::
Remember this "reporter" from a few days ago? She bugged us for opinions about the Davis Sq Wheel. Well, obviously, we did not provide the kind of materials and objective evidence the Somerville News was looking for: www.thesomervillenews.com/main.asp . Everybody loves the Wheel, apparently... Good job, Ashely Taylor, one day FOX News may hire you.
There has been a small change in that one of the rooms is going to be moved out of as of 8/11, and so you could start moving things in around then, if you would like!
I will be available all tomorrow, most of friday, and all saturday to show people the place.
I was in the North End today and had a bit of a brain-explode moment when I found out that Lulu's Bake Shoppe has closed (boooo), but Lyndell's has opened a new location there (yay). Fortunately, the new location still has some of Lulu's signature cupcakes, including red velvet, chocolate oreo, and chocolate peanut butter. I asked the woman working there about them, and she said they are made by the same baker. She also said their location opened about three weeks ago.
I was surprised that I hadn't heard anything about this, especially since I live so close to Lyndell's.
As much as I love Lyndell's, I'm not sure how it will fare right down the street from Mike's and Modern. And I really miss the cute, pink, vintage decor of Lulu's. But is still cool to see a Somerville dessert mainstay expanding.
