Hello Friends,

Does anyone know why there were about 5 cop cars, an ambulance, and a firetruck on College Ave last night around 10:00pm?

Just curious if anyone had the scoop.

Thanks,
Happyjack

This thing is GREAT. I'm only selling it because my new place has a built in. Could deliver locally (within Somerville) for a small fee.

Here's the CList ad and a pic

EDIT: THIS HAS BEEN TAKEN! THANKS

It's an OfficeJet D155xi, if I remember correctly.  Has cords.  Not used in several months (too big to fit on my desk), but should work.  Currently on the porch at 97 Concord Ave, first come first serve.  I'm offering it first to DavisSquare denizens because I got it from a DavisSquare person to begin with.

Free black metal futon frame in front of 390 Highland Ave.

(We're moving!)

Please make sure you also take the ziplock bag with futon parts.

Please come take it before we get fined for having it on the sidewalk.

I posted this on Freecycle, but haven't had any replies yet, so I thought I'd try here. If it's not picked up in the next couple days, it'll just go out on the curb.

It's a plain metal twin-sized bed frame, with wheels, no headboard. In great shape. Needs a box spring; will not support just a mattress.
Looks like this.

Available for pick-up on Elm Street, closer to the Porter end. I work in the square as well, so I'm pretty flexible on time, within reason. Meaning, if you can commit to a time, I can run out of the office and meet you at the apartment... but I can't do a cable appointment style three-hour window in the middle of a work day.

Edit: Just noticed how many of the recent posts are like this... Sorry to clog up the page further. But I hope all this stuff is finding good homes!

Dear fellow car drivers friends and neighbors,

The City is counting on you to park longer than 48 hours in one place, to not remember which day is street cleaning on your side, and to forget to give your out-of-town friends and relatives visitor passes instantly when they arrive at your place. I know what you're thinking, that the City wants its residents, workers, and visitors to abide by the laws, not break them.

As fall rolls around (already!) and the Jewish year starts anew, it's time once again for an open house at Temple B'nai Brith. (Why yes, there is a synagogue in Somerville, and I'm a member.) We'd love to see anyone looking for more Jewish connections in Somerville, be it worship services or community events or Jewish education.

My housemate said that she couldn't find a program that teaches little kids (think preschool age) basic swimming lessons that actually keeps them safe. But I'd be really surprised if there wasn't something like this nearby. The idea being that the kids should be able to float and tread water and maybe doggie paddle so that they don't panic and drown if they happen to wander into the deeper end of the pool or out a bit further in the pond (like they did yesterday, eek!).

The class that my housemate paid for (at the Kennedy pool, I believe) just put the kids in flotation devices and never taught them any independent swimming.

Anyone know of anything in the Somerville area? (Within a couple of miles of our fair city).
