Sorry to bring up everyone's favorite topic around here... but I got cited for parking in the wrong direction today. I have never even heard of this. I was not on a one way street, and pulling in and out of the spot didn't seem any more dangerous than making a left/right turn. But yes, I was parked on the left side of the street, opposite from most cars. Do I have any chance in contesting this? And, slightly relevant, I read on the ticket that it could be adjudicated (appealed) online. Anyone done this?

I don't think I have seen anything here about this so I thought I post this.  Earlier today I received an email from MASS LPA regarding CDC holding a strategy planning meeting regarding the possibility of mandatory mass vaccination program. The meeting is only for Somerville residents and it looks like MASS LPA is looking to organize a protest.

Nevertheless I thought I'd post this as something of interest, or if someone wants to register to attend.

Has anyone here been to a Project MUM event (aka shake yer groove thang under McGrath Highway)?

There is one this weekend (http://www.artsomerville.org/event/2009/mum.html) and I was considering going, but wanted to see if anyone had been before. It seems like it could be a little sketchy there after dark...What were your experiences??

I'm looking to buy a chest freezer (one that opens from the top). I want to avoid buying one new from a big box store. Does anyone in [livejournal.com profile] davis_square have one they want to sell, or have suggestions of a local store that is selling chest freezers (and can deliver)?

Because I'm selling mine. It's a beautiful 30" CRT model with full 1080i HD support. Have a look. Make an offer.

I am sad to say that I will be leaving the Davis Square area after 4 great years to move to the cambridgeport area to be closer to my job.

I need someone's help moving out my stuff this Saturday 8/29. I don't have that much stuff, but some of it is too heavy for me to carry and just want some help loading/unloading a truck.

Having your own truck is preferable, but I'd be willing to rent a UHAUL if necessary. I'll pay my moving helper $20/hour. Reply to this post if you're interested with your e-mail and I'll be in touch.

I have some moving boxes if anyone is in need. Anyone interested would have to pick them up from my place (I'm right across the street from the Davis T). You can comment or send me a message here if you're interested. Thanks!

I'm looking for a whole bunch of old magazines that I can use for cutting up and crafting. When I was little, I used to go to my town's local transfer station and there would be stacks and stacks of them, but with the invention of curbside recycling that's not really an option!

Any ideas about where I might easily find some? Gardening, travel and photography magazines are preferable... thanks!

Hi all -

I have a 24" Hitachi TV. It has a beautiful picture and is in fine shape, though it lacks a remote control. I need to be rid of it by Saturday; make your offer!

I also have a table and chairs. Table's about 4 feet by 2.5 feet, solid stained wood top, green legs. It has three intact chairs (stained wood seats, green legs and backs) and one with a broken leg. Same deal!

Hello Davis Square on the internet machine! First time, long time.

I draw a weekly comic strip called Big Fat Whale, and I've been drawing it from my Davis HQ for almost 3 years. I finally got my act together and made a gigantic printed collection of the strip, called Fun Stuff for Dum-Dums. Blah, blah, blah. Long story short, I thought it would be fun to do a booksigning/comic slideshow in my own neighborhood, instead of some stuffy bookstore that doesn't even have a decent comics section.

So it'll be at the Burren this Saturday, August 29th, 4-7pm. Free, but with a cash bar.

As a bonus, my pal and Malden's own Keith Knight, (the K Chronicles, (th)Ink, The Knight Life) is back in town from LA and will be joining in on the fun.
Hope to see you there, and does anybody know where I can get a burrito and if this airplane noise is normal?
