I tried googling but couldn't find anything aside from info from past years. Does this year's race have a rain date? Or is going forward regardless of the rain?

Anyone out there know this status on Bowl and Board.  The lasy 2 days I've walked past and the door has been locked.  No signs about them being closed or closing.  Also, anyone know anything about the new frozen yogurt place Spun.  I can't figure out their hours, some days they're open, some not.  I would think after spending all that money, they would need to generate some revenue.   Do they have set hours?

MALINKY
With their stunning fourth album Flower & Iron, Malinky celebrate their tenth anniversary and introduce a newly revamped line-up, meanwhile underscoring their reputation as one of Scotland’s most distinctive and accomplished folk bands. While retaining their hallmark song-based repertoire, performed by three superb lead vocalists and arrayed with tastefully inventive instrumentation, Malinky today unite seasoned maturity with sparkling freshness, casting their musical net wider than ever.

"May be the finest young Scottish band since Silly Wizard" ~ Boston Globe

MATCHING ORANGE

The traditional music world contains two types of musicians: the ones that stick to the good old ways (“Trad to the bone”) and the ones that push the limits. Matching Orange is the rare group that walks this line to perfection. Distinguished by their high energy playing and brightly colored music folders, the sound they create is interesting and unique while maintaining a familiar feeling of age-oldness. The result is an alluring complexity. Wherever these three musicians travel, they are greeted with acclaim. Whether playing for the contra dances they cut their teeth on, jamming at a local pub, or bringing the house down at a formal concert, audiences are always excited to hear such a refreshing approach to traditional fiddle music. Featuring Eric McDonald (mandolin), Eric Eid-Reiner (piano), and Brendan Carey Block (fiddle), the band creates a swirling level of intensity, sometimes gritty, sometimes pure, and always engaging. Matching Orange players take full advantage of diverse musical backgrounds, with extensive training in folk, classical, jazz, and other traditions.

Snow emergency, street cleaning, resident-only: Parking rules drive (sorry) Somervillains nuts. They got mayor Joe Curtatone in trouble in his first month, when he ticketed cars for a snowstorm that never came. (He forgave the tickets.) This year, they put him on the hot seat again.

The uproar started on May 21 when the Traffic Commission took a break from OK’ing handicapped spots to make sweeping changes in the city’s parking rules. All streets without two-hour spots or meters would require $15 resident stickers. Those meters would increase in price to $1 and run until 10 p.m. in Davis and Magoun squares, 8 p.m. elsewhere.

The Somerville Chamber of Commerce broke the news the next morning. Egg, meet face. Total PR nightmare. Somervillains were equally angry over the changes themselves - the potential impact on business and quality of life - and the way they were made: by an appointed five-person body in the dark of night. Not even most aldermen knew.

It was “unacceptable,” said Davis Square alderman Rebekah Gewirtz. “They should’ve had a public community process.”

A friend in Arlington received a letter from Comcast informing her that all Extended Basic* channels (24 and above) will soon be transmitted only in digital, and that she would need a cable box or digital adapter to continue receiving them. The letter says the analog signals will go away in two stages, some on October 20 and the rest on November 18.

Is this happening only in Arlington, or have Somerville and Cambridge customers received similar notices? ETA: If you got such a letter, what dates does it give for the transition?

* this means stuff like NESN, ESPN, CNN, MTV, AMC and the like -- not pay-channels such as HBO and Showtime

Hi All, two of my friends are coming back to the Davis area (YAY!) and are looking for a spacious 2 bedroom apartment that will allow 2 cats. The catch is they need something great for Nov 1. If you have any leads please post them here, or respond to their Craigslist ad.

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/hou/1404510306.html

Professional couple - excellent credit, references, salaries - looking for 2BR or large 1BR in Cambridge (Porter/Harvard) or Somerville (Davis/Teele/Spring Hill/Porter) that is near (within 1 mile of) the Red Line. Need for November 1st. We can pay up to $1600/month, but would prefer something for around $1500/month. We have two cats that never go outside (are healthy and clean).
We're quiet, respectful neighbors (see: excellent references). Any leads or information would be much appreciated.

Missing from my basement!!!

Exhibit A:  One blue Specialized Hardrock mountain bike sitting snugly in my basement.

Exhibit B:  Workmen coming and going.  New neighbors moving in.  Basement open.

Exhibit C:  A sad empty spot where One blue Specialized Hardrock mountain bike used to belong.

Exhibit D:  The old ratty BMX pedals on One blue Specialized Hardrock mountain bike that keep my feet secure.

Exhibit E:  Rack over the back tire of One blue Specialized Hardrock mountain bike to secure my belongings.

.......

Exhibit Q:  a scale-model of the entire basement! X marks the scene of the crime. These arrows here show the exact position of the sun at the hour of the crime. Jupiter was aligned with Pluto! The moon was in the seventh...

THERE WILL BE A REWARD FOR THE SAFE RESCUE OF MY BELOVED BIKE FROM FRANCIS!!!!

Please e-mail me here or at ginger_carver@yahoo.com  if you have seen anything matching this description.  I'm a poor broke student and can't afford to replace my beloved bike.

Thanks.
