I know this was posted about here this weekend but now that there are a few more details out about it, I thought it was worth bringing up again. There's also a sketch of the suspect now:

Sounds like he got in her car and tried to carjack it. She got out of the car and he beat her up right in the parking lot. And all at 11:30 a.m. when presumably there were people around.

I guess this is a good reminder that it can't hurt to get into the habit of keeping your car doors locked at all times.

I got an email today about half off at Dave's Fresh Pasta. You have to respond today, but you'd have until April to redeem the coupon (must be redeemed in one visit).

These events actually happen monthly; our calendar has details on these through January. http://calendar.thehav.org/

This Friday, October 23 we're having our monthly open potluck dinner after services.
Join us for services followed by a potluck, dairy/vegetarian Shabbat dinner the second Friday every month. Services at Havurat Shalom are egalitarian, lay-led and usually involve a lot of singing. The potluck is truly pot luck -- no arranging of the dishes in advance. The meal is a good time to meet people and we welcome newcomers.

Services start at 7:00 pm during Daylight Savings Time. Dinner follows in approximately an hour.

RSVPs are not required, but are nice; registrar@thehav.org or http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=145051367438

Friday October 16 is also the deadline to register for our monthly catered dinner and class after services; this will be on Friday October 30. Join us for services at 7:00PM and a catered dairy/vegetarian Shabbat dinner followed by a class. Meryl Beck will present on the Jews of Cuba and other aspects of Cuban life.

Dinner and the class are free, but again, you must REGISTER a week in advance (October 23).
RSVP to registrar@thehav.org or 617-623-3376.
You can also RSVP at: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=155705727339

We regularly provide vegan and low-gluten options at dinner. But if you have specific food needs (including gluten-free) please indicate them when you register, and include your preferred contact information so the food coordinator can contact you with any questions.

And if you'd like to bring some non-perishable food for our box for donations to the local homeless shelter, please do!
