from the Somerville Arts Council e-mail list:
Kathleen Finlay, A Somerville Arts Council Artists Fellowship grant winner, for her community benefit project, has installed large scale needles and thread configurations in window fronts of 3 local businesses. Each window has a different arrangement of needle and stitches. It is an installation of gesture and scale.
The large size and the location of the setup is disconcerting and surprising as well as humorous. The windows are in different sectors of Davis Square. As people look for the similar elements placed around the square, it is hoped that one is drawn into seeing things about their environment and activities that have gone unnoticed.
