A reminder to local artists, Somerville Open Studios (coming up in May) is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work and get involved in the Somerville arts community. It seems like a long ways off now, but time is running out to register for Somerville Open Studios 2010 - the deadline to register is January 31... only 7 DAYS left!

For those considering exhibiting at community space at the Center for the Arts at The Armory, note that there are very few spaces left. We will be closing registration for community space once we reach our limit, so don't delay! If you have any questions please contact communityspace@somervilleopenstudios.org.

Spread the word to any and all artists who either live in or maintain a studio in Somerville! We are anticipating a successful and exciting event for 2010.
Please contact Jessica Pinsky, 2010 Membership Coordinator, with any questions or concerns you may have - membership@somervilleopenstudios.org

Hi guys, my name is Hallie and I'm a college student at Emerson College.  I'm studying journalism, and one of my assignments this semester is to cover Davis Square -- basically, to follow and report on it through May.

I'm not from the area (I'm actually from Texas!) but I went to Davis this morning and walked around and honestly -- I fell in love.  What a great area!  I'm so excited I get to cover it!

I stumbled across this LiveJournal while doing some research, and I was wondering if any of you would be able to talk to me about Davis, what you like about it, what you as a community are doing for/with the area, etc.  I'd love any links or leads you could give me, or any stories you may want to see featured!  I'm all ears for what you guys have to say!

Thanks for reading this, and again -- any information you can give me is welcome and wonderful.  Thank you guys so much!!!  Have a great day :)

Hallie

I'm with NSTAR. I was looking at my electric bill. Consumption this month: ~950 KWH. Last month: ~550 KWH. I'm home most evenings, no new computers, no new gadgets. No electric heaters, since I use gas (I have no idea how much the furnace uses to circulate the forced air). I used some Xmas LED decorations, but come on, they are LEDs. Something seems odd to me.
Just curious if anyone else has noticed something odd comparing this month with the last one. Yes, it's been colder, but if you don't use electric heating, it should not be a big factor, no?
