I know you folks love to talk about parking rules, so heads up - Cambridge announced March 19th that it is extending the active hours of parking meters around Harvard Square from 6 pm to 8 pm. In logic that eludes me, they say this will make more spaces available. So if you have to drive down there for some reason, bring more quarters!

Littering

I witnessed a locally based contractor throw trash out his truck window. When I walked by I asked him not to litter and he didn't react at all. One time this happened before I called the police non emergency line to report a license plate and they just said thanks, but didn't say they would send a warning letter or issue a ticket. Will they?

I'm not going to post the name of the business in this forum even though i want to, unless the moderator tells me its appropriate.

I seriously would be OK with caning Singapore style for littering. There is simply no reason to litter, you can't feed your family by littering.

...has anyone noticed the number of "Reminders" about street cleaning blowing down the streets? I counted 6 on my walk home from work tonight. Aside from the littering aspect, there has to be a greener way to notify residents about street cleaning than printing up full sized sheets of paper to put on all the cars parked on Somerville streets.

I didn't actually read it, just could see that it was reminding residents street cleaning begins April 1st. Does anyone know if this was executed by the city itself?

Does anyone know what was happening in/ near the rotary around 7ish tonight? I saw more Somerville cops this evening than I ever have in one place before.

(It looked like an important funeral, rater than a huge accident or crime.)
