Does anyone know what was happening in/ near the rotary around 7ish tonight? I saw more Somerville cops this evening than I ever have in one place before.

(It looked like an important funeral, rater than a huge accident or crime.)

I bet it was a cop funeral -- saw a cruiser with purple ribbons and lots of cops in full dress.

Yeah, there were police coming in and out of the funeral home and they were concentrated on that side of the rotary. Easy enough to walk through but I felt bad for the backed-up cars.

Yeah - I drove through it, and it wasn't so bad the direction I was going, but there were a lot of backed up cars.

Cop Funeral makes sense. (I feel kind of bad for the guys on traffic duty then.)

Oh no! He was a really nice guy... whether responding to a call or on duty at a polling place, or wherever around town, Officer Nolan was a real friendly honest-to-goodness good person. I hadn't read the papers and am really saddened to hear of his passing.

also, there were do not park signs for tomorrow morning all up college, and continuing onto Warner and into Medford. Is this related to this funeral or something else?

I saw a really cool "old timey" somerville police car there when I was trying to navigate the rotary this morning. It looked like a ford sedan or something. Like one of the ones tom hanks drove in that movie he did set in the 20's/30's.

I saw an off-duty MBTA bus depositing a busload of police officers in full dress uniform around the time of the morning's events.

There are often funerals of police officers and firefighters held at that funeral home, but this one was the biggest I've seen in quite a while.
