Electric Mummy is a band comprised of musicians that live and work in Davis Square. We're in a contest where KISS is going to select a local band to open for them at the Comcast Center, and we really really want to win.

There's two ways to help. First you can vote for us to be selected. We need about 400 more votes to be in contention. Voting begins on our homepage with the Demand It link. http://www.electricmummy.com/

The other way you can help is by participating in our Guitar Giveaway promotion. We're giving away two guitars to add extra incentive to get folks to recruit all their friends, family, and co-workers to vote for us. We've tried to make the process as easy as possible. And it's really a do-no-evil promotion. That is, the guitars come from Rockin' Bobs Guitars in Davis Sq. And the winners get the guitar, a gig bag, and free shipping anywhere in the U.S. Everything is covered, no surprises or catches. It really is a do-no-evil promotion to add incentive for people to help us get elected to the KISS stage.

Registration is also at http://www.electricmummy.com/ And here's the good news. Nobody currently has more than 7 votes collected in the effort to win the black SG guitar. That means if you can collect 8 votes you'd be in the lead. Easy.

fireworks in nearby towns

I saw Ron's post about the fireworks display at Trum Field on Canada Day, and I know about the big Boston Pops thing Sunday night. Can any of you help me find out when and where other towns will be having fireworks? I'm trying to AVOID them. I have the option of spending the next few days in Arlington or Belmont. I can go back and forth, if it turns out that one town has fireworks Saturday night and the other has them Sunday, but I don't want to see the fireworks start and then try to get across town under the rockets' red glare.
