The newest location of the Flatbread Company in Davis Square, Somerville, will host a benefit night for Mass Farmers Markets on Wednesday, August 11 from 5pm until close.

Stop by for pizza, candlepin bowling, and local brews. A portion of proceeds from every pizza sold will benefit the Federation of Mass Farmers Market on behalf of the state's 215 farmers markets and the farmers who rely on them as a critical source of income. The folks at Flatbread have been using local ingredients since day one, and source pizza toppings right from the Davis Square market each Wednesday.

17 Holland Street, across from the Davis Square subway station. Starts at 3:45pm, but I suggest getting there a few minutes beforehand. Lesson goes until at least 4:30pm, and there is a $3 blues jam after til 8pm (fee if you have a Brown School Card).

File this under the Random Question Department, but: has anyone here ever painted a Somerville switch box? I have been approved to paint the switchbox in front of Redbones as part of the Somerville Arts Council grant i received, but the SAC cannot provide me with the most important info of all: what to prime the box with, and what sort of paint to use!?!?! Can i just gesso the thing and use latex house paint? Anyone? Bueller?

Any first-hand experiences / info would be much appreciated!

Sprouts of Hope Kids is a local group that has organized the company that makes them to donate 20 Kill-a-watt meters to the Cambridge Public Library so that you can borrow one (for a week) and measure your energy usage, to see if something you have is sucking huge amounts of energy out of your life. :-)

And you can borrow stuff from the Cambridge library if you have a Somerville Library card (both are on the Minuteman Network).

And it looks like you can request an inter-library loan and have it delivered to the closest Somerville Library branch (for example, the one in Davis Square...) if you want. (It's listed as the "Kill A Watt : electricity usage monitor" on the Cambridge library list, which doesn't have a waiting list like some of the other libraries have for the item.)
