My wife would like to take "Suzuki method" piano lessons, but what I've found so far in Cambridge is quite expensive.  I thought I'd turn to my Davis Square neighbors for any suggestions.  Could be individual or group lessons.  Thanks!

Hi all,
Sorry that this is probably Massachusetts specific rather than Davis Square specific, per se, but since there seemed to be a number of people who know about landlord/tenant responsibilities here, thought I'd ask...

We rent, and have a parking space in the driveway next to the house, and some ice fell off the roof and dented the roof of the car. Is the landlord responsible for any part of the cost of the repair, or not, since it's weather+house?

Either way, any recommendations for a place around here to fix it? -- I did see the thread from last summer with some recommendations. I'd specifically like someone who will tell me honestly how important it is or is not to fix, since I suppose I could live with the dent if it doesn't affect anything else about the safety or running of the car.

thanks!

Hi Davis Square residents and Davis Square lovers! First of all, I wanted to let you know I contacted the moderators of the Davis Square LiveJournal and they gave me permission to post here. My name is Susie and I'm the Social Media Marketer for NabeWise, the new website that allows you to understand any neighborhood as if you've already lived there, so you can explore the world on a local level, discover new places, and find the neighborhoods that are right for you. I noticed NabeWise was mentioned here a while ago, but I wanted to explain a little about the company and why you might be interested in it. I didn't want to appear like I was just "plugging" my company, but the moderators told me I was welcome to post... I'm also a Boston-based blogger, so I know how annoying PR pitches can be! Please feel free to disregard if you're not interested :)

If you've ever moved to a new city, you probably know how difficult it is to find the best neighborhood for you and your family. Sure, you can Google your life away and ask everyone who will talk to you, but wouldn't it be better to have all that information organized in one place? That's where NabeWise comes in. The NabeWise website helps people who are moving to a city pick the best neighborhood for them. It can also assist travelers in figuring out exactly what part of a city they want to book a hotel in or visit. On our site, users can review and rate neighborhoods in the Boston-area (and a bunch of other cities, too).

Of course, Davis Square is one of the featured neighborhoods on the website. And we'd love for you to come check out our Davis Square neighborhood page and share your own thoughts. You must already be proud of your neighborhood, considering Davis Square currently ranks as the #1 trendiest neighborhood in the Boston-area and #3 in terms of awesome public transportation. Do you agree? And do you disagree with the fact that our users have been rating Davis Square #92 in terms of being quiet and #74 for parks (these are all out of 111 neighborhoods). Also, so far reviewers are using words like "hippies," "alternative," and "indie" to describe the neighborhood. Are these words would you use to describe Davis Square?

If you love your neighborhood, feel free to head over to our Davis Square NabeWise page and share your thoughts on the hood. Do you have "insider" information that you think potential newcomers should know? NabeWise is the place to do it! From checking out your LiveJournal, it looks like you guys are pretty passionate about Davis Square, so I hope you'll share your thoughts on NabeWise. I currently live in Brookline, but always say if I had to move anywhere else in the area, it would be Davis Square. It's definitely one of my favorite hoods to hang out in, mainly because it's so lively and there's so much to do.

If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me at Susan@NabeWise.com and make sure to follow us on twitter at @NabeWiseBoston. I hope to see you over at NabeWise!

I need to buy construction paper, kids scissors, glue sticks, markers, crayons etc. I tried the Davis Square CVS and didn't have any luck. Ideas? The close the better, but I could do anything accessible via public transit. I know of some art stores in the area, but I really just need cheap stuff for a kids' craft.

Hello crafty folks,

I have a fantastic lamp in the shape of an elephant. My kids love it, but the electrical guts are from the 1950s and the cord is neither grounded nor safe. Any ideas on where to get it re-wired nearby? Calls to electricians have been unsuccessful (job too small, weird, etc.), but I'd welcome any suggestions.

Many thanks!
