This weekend, coming out of a packed show, I spied an iPod cable on the street and snatched it up in a moment of "in-10-seconds-this-will-be-crushed-into-the-slush." There was no way to give it back to anyone, but, as it turns out, I have no use for it. I'm not even entirely sure what its use actually is. It's definitely not an audio or data cable. It looks like iPod/iPhone to battery-pack of some sort, which I obviously don't have. But maybe you do. Maybe you even lost your cable outside Wicked on Broadway last weekend. Maybe not.

Anyway, if it looks useful to you, drop me a line and it's yours. pics behind cut )

Not sure how many folks here are responsible for buying fuel oil, but I thought I'd throw this out there, anyway.

I live in Medford and get fuel oil from Erickson.  Near as I can tell, they've been delivering to this house for at least 50 years.   We got a delivery yesterday and I realized we're paying $3.59/gallon … and they put 150 gallons in the tank.  *eek*  I've done a bit of comparison shopping via newenglandoil.com and it shows that what I'm paying is at the top of the range.   I actually signed up for Clickfil this past spring, but they went belly-up before making a single delivery.   I'm all for supporting the community and all, but there's helping put someone's kid through college and then there's sending 'em in a Ferrari.

The newenglandoil.com site is the only reference I've found for oil prices, and I don't want to sign up with the lowest bidder and have them turn out to be shady.  Does anyone here have any experience with other local distributors?  What are you paying per gallon?

I'm going to look seriously into upgrading to natural gas next year…

Does anyone know of a place in or around Somercamb where I can find some fresh mozzarella curd?

There is no shortage of fresh mozzarella around, but I like to make my own at home and have been on the hunt for some curd.

Places I have tried with no luck:
- Dave's
- Capone
- Pemberton

Just got this in an e-mail and robo-call:

Starting at 7 a.m. tomorrow morning (Saturday, Feb. 5) and continuing until 3 p.m., DPW crews will be using heavy equipment to clear snow banks from the following streets:

- Main St., both sides of the street
- Highland Ave., even side
- Orchard St., even side
- Day St., even side
- Chester St., even side

"No parking" signs will be posted along these streets and anyone parked in violation of those postings will be ticketed and towed in order to clear the way for snow removal equipment. Police will be on hand to detour traffic around temporary road closures.

The work on Highland Ave. is being timed so that it will NOT disrupt the winter farmers’ market at the Armory, which starts at 10 a.m. The area will be cleared and open for parking before the market begins.
