I have a couple of friends (and their rabbit) looking either for an affordable 1 bedroom apt, or sharing with someone who does not use their kitchen much or is potentially able to keep their kitchen gluten/peanut free (also, they are vegan, but they can deal with it being in the kitchen; the presence of gluten and peanuts, however, is a deal breaker due to the level of allergy). One of them is also allergic to cats. Near the T is strongly preferred. If I had space, I would totally have these people live with me and I am sorry I can not (which, coming from me, a person who recharges when alone, is saying something...). I live in Winter Hill, and if anyone lives close by and has space or knows of an apartment nearby, please send me the info and I will hook them up.

Finally I'm getting away from the room-share section of Craigslist, Huzzah!!
However, I've noticed that the rest of the renting sections aren't helpful for where/when I'd like to be for the price. Reluctantly, I guess this means my BF and I need a realtor. Right?

I'd prefer some East Cambridge action, but we all know this comm is the place to go for all answers :)
Are there agencies/people who cover the entire Camberville area, or should we go with several people in different locations? My assumption is that you're not Locked In with someone unless you sign on a lease- but does it make sense (or headaches) to talk to a bunch of realtors at once?
We're fine with looking on our own if any of you can suggest any non-CL sites to go through, especially since we've got months to find something.
Our price range is low, 1,000-1,250, which I realize is hard to come by for a nice one or two bedroom, but I've lived here long enough and seen a lot (and lived in several) 2brs for around that price, so I know it's not impossible, just not very easy. Hoping to be under a 15 min walk from the redline (or Lechmere) with ample street parking too, so Teele/Ball/NoCa would be great. All I've seen listed is Winter Hill, which is just too far off the T for us. Since I'm soooo ready to move, I'd even be down for moving in with someone and sharing everything until they move out at the end of the summer, but that's a whole other thing and not ideal, obvi.

We're looking for Aug/Sept, so I'm wondering if we've just started to look too damn early...
Honestly I don't even know where to start with this, I've never dealt with a realtor before. Can anyone suggest either a way to secure a 1.5-2 br on our own or a nice place to go through?
Any and all non-snark pointers would be super yay :)

Flat Earth Theatre would like to invite the Davis Square community to join us for our spring production of The Underpants by Steve Martin, opening this weekend at the Arlington Center for the Arts. Adapted from an early-20th-century German farce, The Underpants is a saucy, silly, sitcom-for-the-stage about male-female relations and wardrobe malfunctions. Louise Maske loses her panties one day at the royal parade; her husband Theo is scandalized, her prospective tenants mesmerized, and her upstairs neighbor inspired by the event. What's a model housewife to do?

Flat Earth’s production of The Underpants is directed by Sarah Kimball and features Maggie Carr, Justus Perry, Kathy Berenson, Mike Handelman, Nick Bennett-Zendzian and Bill Conley. You can read more about the show on Flat Earth's website, and see pictures here on Flickr.

All performances will be held at the Arlington Center for the Arts, 41 Foster Street, Arlington, Massachusetts. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and can be reserved online or by calling 1-800-838-3006. Performances are April 1st, 2nd, and 8th at 8PM and April 9th at 2PM and 8PM. Thursday, March 31st is a Pay-What-You-Can Preview, open to the public, beginning at 8PM.

Hope to see you at the theatre!
