My friends and I will be holding a charity yard sale in Davis Square on 9/18 (Sun). All proceeds from this yard sale will be donated to a campaign to help Japanese kids affected by the 3-11 earthquake/tsunami.
We are currently working with Kamaishi Elementary School in Iwate Prefecture and are planning to send winter care packages (comprised of scarves, gloves and hats) for all 140 students this coming fall. While the Kamaishi area has been gravely devastated by the earthquake/tsunami, it has not received as much donations/funding compared to other areas (e.g. Miyagi Prefecture) due to the lack of media coverage and the School continues to lack many resources and items.
The yard sale will be held on 20 Winslow Avenue on 9/18 (Sun) between 9am-noon. No early birds please and all sales final. Rain date will be the following Sunday.
We have received many donation items in excellent conditions from the Japanese community here in the Boston area and sale items include: baby items (including baby gate, Sit-and-Stand stroller, nursing covers, etc), toys, children's clothing (many fall/winter items such as coats and snow suits and includes such brands as Tea Collection, Baby Gap, LL Bean etc) books, women's & men's clothing items (many fall/winter items in excellent used/new with tags conditions and include such brands as Brooks Brothers, J. Crew, Ann Taylor, Uniqlo and more!), books, furniture (computer desk, computer chair, etc.), and other small items.
We will also sell some drinks and baked items (e.g. cookies, cupcakes) at the event.
