September & October bike events in and near Somerville

I posted a long list of local bicycle events to the bostoncycling LJ community. The list includes events in Somerville and several surrounding municipalities.

Since that post is long and has lots of links, I'm going to refer you to it rather than posting a second copy here. Please join bostoncycling if you are interested in bicycle events.

I will plug here three Somerville events that the Bicycle Committee is specifically involved with:

• Somerville Arts Council's Spokes 2012 festival, in Union Square on September 8, from 5-9 pm
• Tasting Tour of Somerville, immediately preceding Spokes 2012 at 3 pm 2:30 pm
• Edge of the City Tour, our 20th annual Tour de Somerville, October 13, meeting at 10 am in Seven Hills Park

Where to find fresh salsa/pico de gallo in walking distance?

So yesterday we were going to make burritos for dinner, but we had no fresh salsa/pico. (Comm'l jarred stuff is not what we were looking for.) It being a lovely day to walk, I racked my brain to think of somewhere in walking distance that I thought might have fresh salsa/pico, and couldn't think of anywhere (we did try Shaw's in the end, no luck). Ended up with somebody having to drive to Whole Foods, which is fine, but not ideal. Anybody have any suggestions for the next time?
