whicj is the ramen place that apparently opened 2 nights ago, in the old Zing! Pizza place.

it says it is open 'late night' on several sites (chowhound, eater), but I can't seem to find a listing of what they consider late night.

anyone been yet? anyone know anything about it? late night and ramen were big favourites of mine back in Toronto (where the ramen places in china town were often 24 hours, as were the trolleys along queen street), and I would ever so love both again.

Hello Somerville! Just popping in to let you know that the Somerville Beat had launched a major redesign today and introduced our advertising program. Hope you all like the changes!

Apparently appeals for parking tickets are now online. (I don't know how new this is -- it'd been a while since my last ticket.) Does anyone have experience with this system? How long does it usually take to get a response?

Also, does this mean they've done away with the walk-in in-person appeals? I couldn't find anything about that on the web site and I don't have time to go in to T&P to find out.

Thanks!

Tomes of Terror - New Arrivals
It's tiiiiiiime again for that old-time Golden Age of Radio recreation Somerville has known and loved for over six years! From the Post-Meridian Radio Players, who brought you "The War of the Worlds: The Mob vs. The Martians", "The Sirens of War" and "The Byfar Hour", now bring you "Tomes of Terror: New Arrivals!"

Listen to the voice actors! See the sound effects performed before your very eyes!

Three short, scary stories will be performed, so terrifying that not even Vincent Price nor Bela Legosi will be there to see them!

- "The Shivers on Highway 61", part of the Parsec Award winning Mask of Inanna series, tells the tale of a 1950’s biker gang that has to deal with one of their own returned from the grave!

- Then we go to "The Crasher" where a troubled writer discovers that investigating the party at a nearby graveyard is, perhaps, not the wisest idea. Inspired by the large iron fence around Tufts!

- Finally we present "The Red Line" so that you can join us for the last trip the T may ever make…

All of this plus the usual PMRP retro candies and sodas at the concession stand! Cherry Mash! Bun Bars! Moxie! Come one, come all! Bring your courage, your spine , and your curiosity, but be prepared to leave... without them!

According to a post on Boston Eater and this legal notice, The Painted Burro is hoping to expand into the space occupied by Spike's Junkyard Dogs. They held a public hearing today (Monday) at 6pm; sadly I didn't see this notice until 6:30.

I love The Painted Burro, but if they displace Spike's from the Davis Square area, I won't be happy at all. Hot dogs, man. Hot dogs.

A few months ago, I grabbed a free treadmill posted here. After deciding that I use it enough to warrant the purchase of a treadmill better suited to the size of my apartment, I'm sending it back into circulation. It's a Proform 760 EKG folding electric treadmill. Livestrong reviews it here and the user manual can be found here. Anyone who wants it and is willing to lug it out of my first-floor (!) apartment, drop me a note with your email/phone and we'll set something up.
