The Somerville Bicycle Committee will lead the 21st annual Tour de Somerville on Saturday, October 19, starting at 10 am at Seven Hills Park in Davis Square.
This year's theme will be bridges, tunnels, overpasses, and construction sites. (If you can come up with a catchy short slogan for this theme, please post a comment here.)
In past years, we've had a mid-ride refreshment stop catered by Redbones, and an escort from the Somerville police. I expect we will have both again, but we haven't made final arrangements yet.
This map shows all of the bridges, tunnels, and overpasses that I know of in Somerville, and a tentative counter-clockwise tour route that goes over, under, or by most of them. The route is subject to change, depending on the status of various construction projects. Your comments are solicited.
The October tour is the last ride that I expect to organize and lead for the Somerville Bicycle Committee. As the longest-serving committee member, I will be stepping down early next year to make way for newer people and ideas.
