Hi DSLJ - The Jingle Ride is coming! I hope you can join us for the happiest ride around: you and 100 new friends, many in costume, with motorists and passersby cheering you on instead of cursing at you :) You definitely don't have to be a hard-core cyclist to join this ride - though it helps if you remember the words to Deck The Halls. See below for details.

If you've been on the ride before, please note the starting point is under new ownership. It's now called the Kickstand Cafe, and the owners are very bike-friendly!

Happy December riding everyone!

Put some antlers on your helmet, tie some jingle bells to your bicycle, and join fellow holiday merrymakers at the 17th Annual Ciclismo Classico Jingle Ride.
On Sunday, December 22nd (NOTE NEW DATE!!), bring family and friends to Arlington for a leisurely and festive bike parade to Boston and back. We’ll also enjoy hot cocoa and cookies at Harvard Square, courtesy of the Harvard Square Business Association!

Tried to buy Illuminations Tour tickets, and they were sold out of everything but the late shows, which are not going to work for my 6-year-old. Leaving aside that I'm clearly an idiot for not having bought them Monday, does anyone have any tickets to a show starting before 8 that they'd be willing to sell? (Or to trade for some later-show tickets?)

Failing that, anyone I can bribe on the Arts Council to offer more trolleys, what with the yearly overwhelming demand?

Lesley University will pick up and move the old North Prospect Church tomorrow morning starting at 8 am. This is on the east side of Mass. Ave. just south of the Porter Exchange (ex-Sears) building. They are moving the church to a new foundation on the same lot, to make room for a new adjoining Art Institute of Boston building.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Somerville Bicycle Committee and Somerville Arts Council invite you to join a bicycle tour of our city's many warmly lit houses. Our tour assembles outside the main entrance to Somerville High School at 5:50 pm on Saturday, December 14, the same night as the popular trolley tours. We'll leave promptly at 6 pm and ride for about an hour.

Please wear warm clothes and light up your bike -- the more lights, the merrier! Costumes are encouraged but not required. We suggest a $5 donation to support the Arts Council. Before and after the ride, mingle with the trolley tourists and enjoy hot drinks, treats, and good cheer at City Hall.

Our tour route is not yet finalized (and won't be until late next week), but it will probably be similar to last year's route.

Heavy rain, snow, wind, or ice will cancel this event.
For those of you who like Facebook, we have an event page there too.
