From approximately 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Broadway between the Powder House rotary and Boston Avenue will be closed to through traffic to accommodate the “Power Push” event and fundraiser for Boston Marathon bombing victims. During this time, there will be an increased presence of public safety personnel as part of the ceremonies, as well as a bagpipe band that made create very brief additional noise in your neighborhood. The event will include a short procession followed by an event that will include one individual pushing 2,350 pounds in a wheelbarrow for the length of Broadway in Ball Square. Increased pedestrian traffic is expected in this area between 2 and 4 p.m., and police officers will be stationed in this area to assist with traffic and safety. Between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., vehicles traveling west on Broadway will be detoured right onto Boston Avenue, left onto Warner Street and back to the Powder House rotary. Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Warner Street, right onto Boston Avenue and left onto Broadway. Side streets in the Ball Square area will be temporarily converted into two-way streets to accommodate residents.
