Hello from, Lori’s Lollipop Kids Family Child Care your quality licensed, insured childcare and preschool, located in Somerville. I am currently enrolling infants and toddlers. Here at Lori’s Lollipop Kids, I provide quality daycare at an affordable rate. I am located in a quiet safe neighborhood with easy access to parks and the library. Time spent out of doors is very important so we try to go out in the morning and afternoon every day, weather permitting. We spend three days a week working on our curriculum giving plenty of time for other activities. Each child is given the opportunity to participate at a willing age. Your child will work with a wide variety of materials from books and toys to art supplies and computers. I feel it is important to encourage children without pushing them beyond their natural limits. I have worked with children for more than fourteen years. Yearly, I am First Aid and CPR certified. I differ from other childcare settings in that I provide more of a home environment while providing structure. My hours are 8am-5:30pm but I am willing to work with your family’s needs. I have references from many satisfied families I have worked with in the past. My home is newly renovated so you can be sure it is de-leaded with everything in working order. I have a large backyard that has lots of sun as well as shade. Call 617-921-3968 for more details and to set up an interview!

Does anybody know of somewhere nearby where one can buy a SIM card for use in China?  Davis is of course ideal but any local recommendations at all would be welcome.

September is here and that means it’s time for Fluff! September 27th is the 9th annual What the Fluff? A Tribute to Union Square Invention.

Produced by Union Square Main Streets, "What the Fluff" doesn’t just celebrate the genius of Archibald Query, who invented Fluff here in Union Sq. in 1917. It also celebrates the creativity of the artists, musicians, bakers, and other citizens who join together to celebrate our hometown sweet in the most memorable ways. This year’s theme is Steampunk Fluff! I have seen the t-shirt and it is FANTASTIC.

Volunteers are needed for two-hour shifts in a wide variety of tasks – from the prize booth to kiddie games to the cooking contest, there are jobs to fit every personality. There are opportunities for friends to work together, and for mature children to work with their parents.

The Festival is at Union Square Somerville on September 27th from 3 to 7 PM, with volunteers needed from noon until 8 PM. (rain date is 9/28) To sign up or to find out more, please contact Karin at volunteer@unionsquaremain.org

Less than a week 'til the primary election! Next week, Tuesday, Sep 9th.

Apparently I never got around to posting this video I took of Christine Barber's campaign kickoff at Sabur. She's running for state rep in the district Carl Sciortino represented for the past almost-decade, which starts a few blocks from Davis Square and includes the Teele Square area and much of Winter Hill. So here it is:

Video of Christine Barber's campaign kickoff )

Carl Sciortino, senator Pat Jehlen, and several other Somerville-area elected officials were there. State Rep Denise Provost (whose district Davis Square is in) was one of the speakers introducing Christine Barber, and talked about working with Christine in the state house. Progressive Democrats of Somerville chair Katie Wallace was the other intro speaker. I learned new things listening to this, it was quite interesting! I recommend watching it.

"My favorite thing to tell people about Christine is that, oh, Christine wrote the health care bill. They're like, 'really? what?' and I say 'no, really'" -- Katie Wallace
