Bike path cut-through at Dick's Auto Body is now shut?

The hole in the chain link fence that allowed access between the bike path and the street by Dick's Auto Body is Now patched with a big piece of chain link fence.

I had sort of hoped that would not happen. It is an often used entrance to the bike path, and when someone paved the slope between the path and the street I had hopes that the hole in the fence would become an actual gate instead.

Anyone have info on what happened and why?
