Join us as we kick off the Creative Somerville Series--which highlights local creatives and entrepreneurs through an intimate ‘fireside chats’ format.

The event takes place on Wednesday, December 10 at 7 p.m. at Creative Union (66-70 Union Square, Suite 103).

Our first speakers are Ben Holmes, Dan Rassi and Ronn Friedlander, founders of Aeronaut Brewing Co. who will speak about starting a business and building a hub around beer, food and science in Somerville.

The series is hosted by Creative Union, a coworking space for creatives and entrepreneurs in the heart of Union Square and is cohosted by Somerville Local First and The Somerville Beat.

You can get your free ticket here.

The Davis Area Resident/Business Initiative (DARBI) (YourDavisSquare.com) announces its 11th annual December Midnight Madness shopping event, offering exclusive sales until midnight at a collection of Davis Square retail shops, on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Between the hours of 6 p.m. and midnight, shoppers will be able to shop at such Davis Square favorites as Comicazi, Magpie, Davis Squared, When Pigs Fly, Found, Sunshine Lucy’s, and What’s Nü. Many retailers will offer live music, hors d'oeuvres, and drinks to keep the atmosphere lively. Spoke Wine Bar will offer a custom drink that night, the Curtatone Cocktail, in honor of Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone, and $1 will be donated to the Somerville Homeless Coalition for each drink sold.

Many participants will be collecting or selling items to benefit the Somerville Homeless Coalition. To kick off the evening, adults and children are invited to meet at 6 PM at 128 Willow Ave. by the bike path (office of Thalia Tringo & Assoc. Real Estate). There, they can exchange a donation of canned goods or warm hats/coats/scarves/gloves for a free star or poinsettia luminaria bag and LED light, which they will hold as they go caroling down the bike path, ending at the Nave Gallery Annex tent in Statue Park, where the Nave will be hosting its annual Wrap Around Sale of hand-knit and crocheted hats and scarves, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Somerville Homeless Coalition.
