Thank you to the entire LiveJournal community for engaging in lively, informed, and challenging discussion of this race right up to the bitter end, with an extra thanks to Ron for all his hard work keeping everyone informed and on track.  I feel really lucky to be running in a neighborhood with such a robust and age-diverse social media community.

I am honored to have received so many of your votes, and I am excited to continue working to keep Somerville livable, affordable, diverse, weird, and vibrant.  After I sleep allllllllll weekend.

I apologize for the short notice. I will ask someone from the branch to post things here when I see them tomorrow.

I'm posting this here in hopes that some of you might consider attending and donating to this wonderful group as a golfer ($120-$150 per person for the tournament) or at least a dinner guest. It costs $10,000 a month to support the Asylum Seekers that the Task Force is currently housing in Worcester. They are not allowed to work due to restrictive US laws, so they need all the financial support they can get.

"Task Force fans who love to eat! And/or love to shop! And/or love nice places! Dine with the Task Force and friends on Sat. Sept. 26, at the beautiful ballroom at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club, Boylston, MA, 6:00 p.m. (early arrivals: cash bar will be open). Deluxe buffet, all you can eat. Live jazz music; asylum seekers will tell a few personal stories; mingle, hobnob, dance; bring friends! Just enjoy yourself ---and don't forget the fabulous silent auction and raffle prizes! Only $35 a person. Email golf@lgbtasylum.org or go online to http://lgbtasylum.org/golf.htm and register yourself and others as "dinner guests" (bottom of the reg form).

See you there!"

The ninth Project MUM outdoor dance party will take place Saturday night, September 19, from 8 pm to midnight.

MUM used to stand for Music Under McGrath or Meet Under McGrath, but the event will now take place on the former Waste Management site at the corner of Poplar and Linwood streets, next to McGrath. (Even without the current McGrath construction, Project MUM has gotten much too large to ever fit under the highway again.)

At various times, MUM has been a project of the Nave Gallery or of SCUL, but now it's loosely under the auspices of Firefly Arts Collective.
