Does anyone know where there is an old cellphone recycling bin in the local area? I have an ancient one that is useless even for the women's shelter. I do have a newer one that will be dropped off at the PD, just so nobody gets on my case.

And hell, while I'm at it, is there also a place to recycle regular AA/etc batteries instead of just chucking them in the trash?

TIA

modern alkaline batteries can just be thrown in the trash...they don't contain harmful stuff like the old ones used to.

I know Whole Foods has a bin for accepting old cell phones.

unless the cellphone can no longer dial 911 for some reason, it wouldn't be useless to battered women's shelters, even if it's obsolete in the general population.

yes, that definitely qualifies in the "for some reason" category:)

it's kinda a late reply, but i noticed that the sprint store in harvard (and all the sprint stores) have phone recycling boxes there. i'd guess that most phone stores have them.
