over in powderhouse square, "spun" -- the frozen yogurt place -- is apparently open for business again. i was there a couple days ago (in the cold rain) and plan to go back now that it's actually nicer out. they had just "original" flavor, which is actually my preference, and a whole lot of toppings (i got strawberries and toffee). the proprietor was nice, said basically that he'd taken over running it from the previous person who was a flake, and gave me a lid to keep the rain out of the leftovers of my treat (even the "small" is kinda huge, i'm guessing ten ounces or so?)

Thanks for posting this. Will they have regular posted hours this time around?

I believe the hours were something like noon-11pm, and that they were open 7 days a week. I was there yesterday after 9pm. The guy working the counter said they will be open 7 days a week from now on. The original flavor was tasty enough and yes, the small is actually huge.

After a 90-minute bike ride today, I really wanted some frozen yogurt, so I stopped at Spun. It was closed, even though all the lights were on inside and the sign said noon-11pm 7 days a week.

This was 20 minutes ago.

When I went by at 9:30pm, it was open...so not sure what was going on. Maybe the guy stepped out?

Is that a reference to Gary Larson in the title? Anyway, will be trying this place soon.

I'd guess it's at least also a reference to spun/spün/spoon

I got a large and it wasn't that huge - mostly because it was *hollow* on the inside - they carefully filled the outside of the cup with frozen yogurt, and then since I didn't get any toppings either I could see a great big gaping hole in the middle. Um, ok.

Also, anyone know more about their claim that it's 25 calories a serving?
Messing with the serving size? (I didn't read closely the one on the counter, then noticed a big sign outside saying "just 25 calories!"). Or did I just eat some weirdass artificial sweetener and filler mixed in with my yogurt??

ok, to answer my own question, it seems like this whole "healthy frozen yogurt" concept is all over the US with lots of places claiming "25 calories per oz." depending on serving size, that's back to what I'd expect out of a dairy treat. I did not eat just one ounce of yogurt. ;-)

Yes, I agree that it was hollow inside and was prepared to be disappointed... but he completely filled any empty space with the fruit toppings I ordered, so I was happy enough.
