Our Cultural Café series of fundraising dinners is visiting Bosnia by way of Somerville – we’ve been having a great time and I wanted to include DSLJ in the fun!
Time: Tuesday, May 4th, 7:00-9:00 PM
Place: Sabur Restaurant, 214 Holland Street, Somerville (between Davis and Teele)
Fee: $25 includes meal, gratuity, and a donation to Cultural Kitchen
Sign up now: at http://culturalcafemay.eventbrite.com or by contacting Karin at kturer@usahostels.org or at 617-718-7990 ext 23.
You must pre-register for this event – it will likely sell out in the next week or so, so don’t miss out!
Sabur typically serves multi-ethnic cuisine inspired by the rustic fare of the Mediterranean region. However, for this occasion, owner Haris Jusufbegovic will be hosting us with a feast featuring food from his native Bosnia. He has showed me the menu for the evening and I can’t wait!
More about Cultural Café and Cultural Kitchen
For almost a year, Hostelling International USA’s Cultural Café has been exploring the diverse cultures and cuisines Boston-area restaurants have to offer. Cultural Café is an enjoyable meal shared among fellow members of the community, and also raises funds for Cultural Kitchen, HI-USA’s educational program for inner city youth. Keep your calendar open for the first Tuesday of each month, and consider joining the Meetup group at www.meetup.com/culturalcafe
As an afterschool activity, Cultural Kitchen teaches Boston area youth about culture and diversity using cooking as the primary vehicle - just like travelers at our hostels learn about one another while cooking together in the hostel kitchen.
Thanks,
Karin T
PS: Save the Date! Taste of the World, an exciting new benefit for Cultural Kitchen, is coming up on June 10th in the Back Bay. For more information, see our facebook page at www.facebook.com/taste.of.the.world
