So long story short, my boyfriend and I signed a lease on our first place and were all set to move in over the next couple weeks--but we broke up last night. The one piece of good news in this is that the new lease was month-to-month, so I'm not sewn into an unbearable living situation for a year.

My landlord has already rented out my current place, so renewing my lease here isn't an option.

May is already paid for at my new place, and because I leave this evening for a 6-day/6-night work trip, it's fairly unlikely that I'll find a different new place in time to tell my new landlords that I won't be renewing the lease for June.

But if anyone out there has or knows of a Summer sublet in Davis Square or Porter Square or Central Square or Inman or Union or Teele or Ball Square, or even Magoun, that starts 6/1 and only costs up to $600/mo (with or without utilities included), I would really appreciate the opportunity to come and meet you after I get back from Chicago next week. I mean, I have a place I can move into when my lease at my current place is up, and my parents said they'd help me with the rent on it as I can't swing it alone, but if I don't have to move all by myself into an apartment that was supposed to be Our First Place, that would be so much the better.

I'm 31, I work full-time, I don't smoke, and I don't have any pets.

too bad you're just looking for a sublet. I'm looking for a new roommate since [livejournal.com profile] ifotismeni is moving out.

Looking for roommates is hard work. :(

Oh man. I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions other than Craigslist, but I just wanted to say: that really blows, and I'm sorry. :(

You've probably thought of this, but could you live with your ex? This exact thing happened to someone I know, and they ended up being really good room mates. Not always the case, but worth considering? Good luck in any case.

no apartment help, but wanted to say that that sucks! i had a similar situation happen to a friend a few years back, they signed a lease and right before moving in, he broke up with her. (in her situation, she kept the apartment, and found roommates... it was an awesome apartment)

There are always sublets on http://www.tuftslife.com/ for the summer months.

Good luck!

my house is currently looking for someone to move in June 1-June 15; we're really looking for someone that could stay through the summer and for the next year (until Sept 2011) but... we're open.

send me a message on LJ and i'll send you the CL post- it's down this week because none of us are around to meet interested people.

oh, i totally understand that.

I hope that things work out for you, and that it turns out to be a blessing in disguise.

I forgot to say before, as I always say to people about break ups: "congratulations and I'm sorry"

living with your ex post-breakup is an epically bad idea! (at least it was in my case)

I have a room for rent that I've already moved out of. It's about a 5 minute walk from the Porter square shopping center.

Here's the craigslist posting:

Let me know if you're interested or if I can answer any questions for you.

I've already been looking for someone for a while. At this point, I wouldn't mind dealing with one month of rent if I had the assurance of having someone.

Sorry about the expired posting. Here it is:

I could negotiate on the remaining part of my lease, which is through the end of August.

After that, if you wanted to stay, it wouldn't be up to me.

Contact me at metagnat at gmail and lets talk about it.
