Spring Clean Up Canceled due to rain, thunder, and lightning!

It will be re-scheduled in the next few weeks!
 

REMINDER! ANNUAL SOMERVILLE SPRING CLEANUP, SAT. MAY 8^th, 10:00AM-12:00PM,

 

Ward 6: Davis Square, Statue Park

 

 

This is a great event for anyone who would like to help clean up the city. Typically we collect dozens of bags full of trash from around Ward Six. Kids, especially, enjoy this event - believe it or not!

 

 

Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz and I (Paul Bockelman, School Committee) will be at Statue Park to help get you started (and give you a cup of coffee).

 

 

Special Note: if you see areas in Ward Six that are collecting trash or need attention, please email me or Rebekah!

LOCATIONS CITYWIDE:  The annual Somerville Spring Clean-Up will be held on Saturday, May 8^th at locations throughout the City. A rain date has been set for Sunday, May 9^th.  Volunteers should meet a ward captain at 10:00 am at the following locations:

• Ward 1: Cross Street Senior Center, 165 Broadway; AND Capuano School
• Ward 2: Union Square Parking Lot at SCAT Building
• Ward 3: City Hall Concourse, 93 Highland Ave.
• Ward 4: Blessing of the Bay Boat House, Shore Drive
• Ward 5: Community Path at Cedar Street
• Ward 6: Davis Square, Statue Park
•  

• Ward 7: Teele Square Fire Station

Will trash bags and gloves be provided by the city, or should we bring our own?

In the annual Ward 5 cleanup of the Community Path, the City has provided us gloves, trash bags, rakes etc. I assume it's the same for all ward cleanups.

Johnny D's has been generous enough to offer free refills of their yummy fair trade, organic coffee if you bring a reusable mug. (We can also use their bathrooms, if we need them.)

PLUS Johnny D's will give a discount for brunch after the cleanup!
