Great map but one correction, it shows crowleys liquor in the wrong spot. It's much closer to Ball Sq than the Parkway. Maybe the address was a reporting error though?

Can we say it?

East Somerville officially sucks.

This is a general problem with Boston Ave. Google maps is convinced that Boston Ave in Somerville doesn't exist. It maps addresses south of Broadway as the equivalent address in Medford. (ask me how I know . . . grr)

It worked okay for a while in google maps when you went to it directly but not in applications that use it (mbta trip planner, gmaps pedometer, etc.) but now even main google maps seems to be messed up again.

I have reported it, I would be delighted if others would also, as I'd really love to see this problem fixed.

Why did you say that?

I don't see anything on the map to support your statement. It has eight pushpins in East Somerville, only one of which is a crime of violence.

err. This bug is more complicated and less extensive than I realized. I've gone back and played with it and (1)it seems to be only a small section of the Somerville side addresses which are affected, roughly from Pearson Ave (not RD!) to Broadway. And (2)it seems to be (partially?) because it has the zipcode wrong. (It thinks we are in 02145, which we are not. But if you use 02145 it seems to work okay.) Now why it would decide that moving to a different city when it couldn't find the address makes more sense than to a different zip in the same city, I don't know.

When I just type in Somerville, MA with no zip, sometimes it displays correctly and sometimes not. Also seems to be somewhat affected by where the map was previously.

*ahem* in case anyone else cares . . .

According to the map East Somerville is not as bad as Winter Hill.

It surprised me to see so many pushpins on quiet Sycamore Street.

Sorry, I meant that the right (east) side of the map has all the crime... Is it because the baddies live there? Or because it's easier to get away with crime there?...

Hmmm, if it's quiet, it probably means there are fewer people around and so it may be easier not to be spotted. Just a guess.

"East Somerville" is the area east of McGrath Highway, north of Washington Street, and south of I-93, only.

Before making some more ignorant statements, may I suggest that you check out East Somerville Main Streets? Lots of good food out that way.
