Somerville battling rat problem

All business-owners like foot traffic ... except when the feet come four at a time.

Several popular restaurants on Beacon Street are dealing with hordes more ravening than ravenous: rats. At the May 13 Board of Aldermen meeting, Alderwoman Maryann Heuston ordered inspectional services to deal with a "severe rodent problem" by Miller and Sacramento streets.

I'm sure all the people who claim to be "feeding the birds" when they throw stale bread on the ground don't help our local rat problem.

And that ignores the piles of food people leave next to the trashcan at the Community Path and Willow, or the place where someone discards an entree every other day halfway between Willow and Davis on the Community Path.
