RSVP deadline: Friday May 21, 2010
free!
Join us for services and a dairy/vegetarian Shabbat dinner followed by a class on Yiddish folk music taught by Ruth Bork. Dinner and the class are free, but * * you must register by May 21! * * RSVP to registrar@thehav.org or 617-623-3376. We regularly provide dairy-free and gluten-free options at dinner. But if you have specific food needs, let us know asap. Services at Havurat Shalom are egalitarian, lay-led and usually involve a lot of singing.
Yiddish Folk Music
We will learn about several types of Yiddish folk songs and their functions by examining and singing some songs. It is possible that recordings of songs will be played; anyone for whom this would be a concern should check in earlier in the week (r.bork@neu.edu) to see if recordings will be used in the class.
Ruth Bork is a long-time member of Havurat Shalom who grew up with Yiddish music a constant presence in her home.
