davis_squareAs you probably know, each month, SAC uses the CVS window in Davis Square to showcase local art. Following the success of this project, we want to give our "gallery" a make-over. To begin the process, we need a new name for the window.
What we are looking for:
A name that is short, catchy and fun that indicates the nature of the gallery space.
The winner of the contest will receive a fabulous SAC Swag bag and recognition in our newsletter. Deadline for submissions is June 30.
Gallery Mission:
The CVS Window is a unique space that allows the public to view an eclectic array of works from artists and local organizations each month. It is the goal of the Somerville Arts Council to showcase the cultural diversity that community has to offer.
Would you like to curate a show or be a participating artist?
Call to Artists will be held for the Fall/Winter season.
Guidelines
Individual Shows
• Submit 5 jpegs of actual work you desire to exhibit;
• Within the email provide all complete contact information;
• State desired month you wish to exhibit;
• If selected, you will be required to sign an agreement releasing any liability from the building owner or SAC.
Curated or Group Shows
When showcasing multiple artists, please be mindful of the dimensions of the windows. A mockup of the display will be required and be reviewed by SAC staff.
For shows with several participating artist, include:
• the description of the theme/ concept
• jpegs of participating artist with description of medium
• contact information of each artist
*A jury will assemble to review the applications for the season.
*If you have been a past participant, preferences will be made to new artists. If we need to fill unoccupied months, we will contact past participating artists on our roster to fill that space. Keep in mind that in the future there will be group curated shows that you may apply to as well.
Dimensions of the Two Windows:
Total length of each window is 8 feet long; Depth- 16 inches; Height from hanging bar- 7 feet by 4 inches
Each Window has two panels: panel width 3 feet by 5 inches
