no mail on Paulina?

Hi there,
I live on Paulina and it seems as if the postal service missed us today (didn't pick up outgoing mail or leave anything for both apartments at my address). Our mail sometimes comes as late as 4, but I just wanted to check and see if anyone else in the area got skipped today.

i don't live on Paulina, but the mail carriers for the neighborhoods in and around Davis Square seem to be awfully flaky. i know two people who've had to call the DS Post Office and complain.

I'm on the other side of Davis and haven't gotten any mail today yet either.

I've noticed letter carriers coming later (like after 5pm) a few times in the past months, I'm not sure what is the cause of that.

I'm on Holland at the Gorham / Paulina intersection, and while we haven't been skipped, our mail has been delivered at 4 PM or later this week. This has been a pattern lately, it seems to me.

Probably a substitute carrier because your regular one is either sick or on vacation.

Thanks for the comments. My regular carrier is usually pretty consistent, so I'm not too worried..it's just a little odd.

Mail delivery doesn't seem to be a high priority in this part of Somerville. When I lived between Porter and Davis, I would get mail jammed into my box so hard it wouldn't come out without ripping, or it'd be left on the (open) porch regardless of weather. Or I'd get the other apartments' mail (once I had a neighbour's credit card bill in my box for at least two weeks; good think I'm not an identity thief). Or I'd get mail for people who lived in my apartment over 10 years ago. Or I'd get mail address to my house number but a completely different street. And I'd call the post office and complain and it would do no good.

I got a PO Box at the main post office at South Station. I don't trust mail delivery in Somerville. It's the worst in anyplace I've ever lived.

tl;dr: Somerville mail delivery is like a barn cat. It does what it wants to when it wants to and answers to no one.
