There's a shiny new tattoo studio open in Davis in the little plaza by Starbucks where the printing place used to be, and didn't I neglect to make note of its name. But [livejournal.com profile] surrealestate and I went inside yesterday and met the owner and artists. We got the grand tour, and the facility is incredibly clean and professional, very friendly, and open for business. From the quote he gave me for re-inking my blackwork, the prices sound like they'll be reasonable, too. We encouraged the owner to join this LJ community, so maybe we'll see him here.

Ink for all!

It's The Boston Tattoo Company. (Currently not very useful web site here. (http://www.thebostontattoocompany.com/))

Formerly The Painted Bird on Somerville Ave.

At the Davis Square Task Force meeting, one of the owners said that they have a second location in Medford. I don't remember if that one is called Painted Bird or Boston Tattoo, however.

Some earlier discussion is here, though it wanders all over the place.

Is it the tattoo place near Wellington Circle/Kappy's? I'm 98% sure that one's called Painted Bird.

Oh excellent! I have been meaning to stop in at the Somerville branch of the Painted Bird to talk to artists about my next piece. This makes it just that much more convenient!

The Somerville location now only seats one tattoo artist and is otherwise Assemble & Conquer, a skateboarding shop (that really doesn't cover it) that had been previously located in Teele Sq next to Rudy's. FYI :)

Thank you for the kind words, we are now on live journal and plan on posting the details of our grand opening celebration very soon. We are now officially open for business and welcome any and all to stop by and see our new store, meet the artists and check out our portfolios . Our websites are currently being updated but all new info will be posted to their links. We have relocated our original studio on Somerville Ave to our current location and our studio in Medford (The Painted Bird II) is still open. Hope to see you all soon!

The Medford Painted Bird did a very nice job on a simple set of ear piercings for me -- hard to get much of a feel from that for how their more complicated work will be, but I had no complaints about the piercings, cleanliness, or customer service.

The Somerville Ave Painted Bird piercer helped me out with a piercing issue I had from a shop in another state. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and kind (unlike many tattoo & piercing places where I often feel horribly uncool). Sounds like the Davis shop is their new main Somerville store, which is excellent for us.
