If someone felt like being a random goodnik, could they please dial 311 and report an open and unattended fire hydrant at the corner of Willow and Lexington, and then leave a comment here after doing so?

My cellphone doesn't want to talk to 311 right now, and I have no landline.

Done! Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] m_b_w.

It's intentional flushing of the system.

That area had a bunch of stealth water main work on Thursday; there was no water at all for most of the day. No signage or notice that I saw, though, just "hey, where's the water?!?!" From memory, the water department was saying that the area around Morrison/Highland/Cedar was affected. (I can only speak directly to Hancock, which was dry.)

I have often wondered about this practice. I often see a fire hydrant gushing away unattended in Union Sq too.

For future reference (and from the SomervilleMA.gov website), the longer phone number for 311 is 617-666-3311 .

You can also submit a 311 request online.
