We found this adorable and very friendly male cat today on Pearson Ave near the Bike Path.  One of our neighbors on Pearson asked if he was ours and said he's been wandering around the neighborhood for a week or so looking lost.

He followed us all the way home to Prichard Ave and then tried to get into the house when we opened the door!  He's super friendly and adorable.   He's sort of tabby grey striped with a white chest and white front paws.  Let me know if he belongs to you and I'll see if I can bring him inside for you.  We put out some food & water in case he comes back.

That's a gray tabby with white, not a calico. :) Male calicos are extremely rare and usually infertile due to chromosomal abnormalities. Fun fact for the day! Anyway, I hope he finds his way home soon.

BTW, Wikipedia has a great article on cat coat genetics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_coat_genetics).

I actually saw this cat and another one, nearly identical, right outside the house yesterday. [I'm [livejournal.com profile] mud_puppy's upstairs neighbor].

There was a sign posted on the corner of Highland and Cedar looking for a lost cat. If only I had looked more closely... And wasn't too lazy to go look again...

I think I saw him and another cat hanging out in my neighbor's yard earlier this week (Tuesday?) on Boston Ave parallel to Pritchard/Pearson. I'll keep an eye out (although I do for kitties anyway)

I particularly noticed the cat because of this posting: http://community.livejournal.com/davis_square/2252287.html

This is a different kitty, right?

This cat is in my back yard RIGHT NOW... circling my little fish pond looking for a meal. I've seen it 3 times this week. Send me a message if it's your cat and I'll try to capture it for you.

Unfortunately, this physical appearance (gray short-haired tabby with white spotting on the face, chest, abdomen, and legs) in a cat is, as far as I know, the very most common appearance that there is for random-bred cats because of which phenotypes are dominant. So an inordinate number of cats look like this and are difficult to distinguish from each other. My usericon for this comment is a picture of my cat, Sputnik, who was found on the lawn in the vicinity of MIT and, as you can see, looks very similar.

Two Months Later. . .

Hi guys,

Did anyone ever figure out who this sweetie belonged to? He's been hanging out around our house for two days now. (Pearson and Kidder) I'm starting to feel really bad for him and I wonder if he's being taken care of. He's looking kind of skinny.
