Prepaid dialup cards?
Jun. 19th, 2010 12:24 pmDo any corner stores around here sell prepaid cards where you scratch off and get a password for so-many minutes of 800-access dialup internet? I know this is the home of WoW-loving bandwidth junkies, but I want like a $5 card I can carry in my wallet for emergencies.
Once in a while I'm stuck somewhere w/o net access and a cellphone won't do, but it doesn't happen often enough for me to get a tethering plan. These cards used to be sold for business travelers before hotels started installing Wi-Fi, and theyres stuff like this being sold online, but I'd rather just pop into a bodega and get the card.

But I think your balance gets reactivated if you buy more minutes. There's also the 55 cent payphone fee, but there's no way around that one with any calling card.
