dogs problems...

There are some dog owners in my immediate area who do not clean up after their dogs. I came home today to find two new, ummm, deposits in front of my front steps (on pavement, not dirt.)

Is there anything I can do besides put a sign? Anything I can spray to keep dogs away from using that area as a regular dumping ground?

The downstairs neighbors have a dog and are completely responsible and clean up.

As a responsible dog owner, I'm sorry to hear this! I have seen cute lawn ornaments that say no dogs allowed. When I see these, I avoid the lawn entirely. I can't really think of any other good options.

I thought spraying the area down with hot red pepper was supposed to make dogs have less of a good time there, but I could be wrong.

We have the same problem, but it's not the solid waste but the liquid stuff that's ruining the patch of grass we call a lawn. Tried cayanne pepper, red pepper flakes, mothballs, and some sort of powder sold at Home Depot - nothing worked. Oh yeah, and we asked the dog's owners to please keep their pet from peeing on our lawn, so now they only let the dog pee there at night.
